Thanksgiving day

Image
Happy Thanksgiving!    Today was a pretty mellow day!  It was nice!  We did dinner with my side of the family since we did it with Dusty's side last year,  Between Mom and Grandma and I we cooked a pretty good spread!  Of course I had the least to do of anyone.  I made homemade rolls,  and did candied yams, and Dusty did the green bean casserole. In the morning before the big dinner we went over and visited with Grandma Teena and Grandpa Ken and Uncle Kyle.  We played with the puppies (Bridgett's favorite!)  and Aaron and Uncle and I put together some puzzles. Bridgett with Brain,  its' not really her name but Bridgett has decided it is,  she watched Inspector Gadget with Aaron and I guess Penny and her dog Brain made quite the impression!  Putting together a 2 sided puzzle is harder than you would think it would be!  Snuggled on the couch with Uncle and "brain"  The big meal!  Bridgett trying t...

First Stitches

Today we had to run Bridgett to the dr's to see if she needed stitches.  Poor thing!  She was spinning around you know like all little girls do and she got a little dizzy and tripped and landed with her head hitting the banister railing right where it goes square.  She was at Grandma's house when It happened,  She and Aaron were playing together,  I was at home raking up some leaves.  Of course Mom and Dad could not get a hold of me so they had to call our neighbor Jill to come out and catch my attention. I ran up to Mom's house and looked at her head and figured that she probably did need to go to the dr's for stitches.   The bleeding had stopped as long as she held still but by the time we got to the dr's office it had started to bleed again.    And can I just tell you that head wounds bleed a lot?? The Dr looked at her head and announced that yes it would indeed need stitches.  The good news is that now instead...

leaves, leaves and more leaves!

About this time of year all our Saturdays tend to look the same.   Every sat we got out and attack all the leaves that are on the ground, bag them up and then by the time the next Sat roles around there are just as many leaves back on the ground again.  And this goes on usually until it snows and covers up all the leaves.  But hey!  At least the children have fun! And after these two have as much fun as they can playing in the leaves they usually retire to their tree house and have their sack lunch while Dusty and I finish up with the leaves. Got to love Fall!

Not the best day Mommy!

Today when I picked up Aaron from School he announced that he did NOT have the best day today,  I asked him why not and he said I got hit with a soccer ball really hard!  I turned around and looked at him and say a huge red round spot on his cheek right below his eye. "oh honey I'm so sorry!  Was it right there on your cheek?" "No.  that's where I got hit with the baseball." Somedays it's all I can do to not break out laughing.  I love it when kids say funny things.  and the part that makes it the most funny is that they have no idea how funny it really it!   Poor Aaron it seems like today was his day to get beat up by balls!

Hide the Turkey

Image
So Aaron came home with an unusual homework assignment.  A fun one but an unusual one.  In class they had read a book about a class who took a field trip to a turkey farm in November,  and once they learned what the fate of the turkeys would be for Thanksgiving they each took a turkey and disguised it so that the farmer could not find it. So Aaron come home from school with a turkey printed on a piece of card stock and instructions from his teacher that he had a little over week to think of how to disguise his turkey.  He could not just color it she wanted something creative and we as parents were encouraged to help.   ( I like it when teachers tell you if they want you to help with something or not.  since Aaron is my oldest its' hard for me to know what my part is as the parent,  how much I should help or when I should just encourage and let their own creativity do the work)  So Aaron and I pondered about how to disguise his turkey. ...
