Happy Halloween!

Image
Today the kids were all excited because it was Halloween.  Sadly at 3pm it started raining,  it stopped for a while so we grabbed the kids and ran out to do some trick or treating before the rain started again.  We visited Nannie and Papa,  and Dad and we left the car at Dad's house and started trick or treating down his street.  We got about 4 houses before it just started Pouring!!!  so we ran back got into the car and visited Mom and Dad Chadwick.  But by then everyone was cold and wet.  So we didn't' stay long.  We could tell that it was not going to stop raining for a long time so we told the kids that was probably it for trick or treating but we would get them happy meals to and have some good family time before bed.  They all seemed to be find with that so we went home and changed clothes and ate our fries.  It was quite sad to see the rain come down for house after that but I think the kids still had fun.  And here they...

Carving our Pumpkins

Image
Today we carved our Pumpkins,  Daddy helped Bridgett, I did one for Colette, and Aaron was old enough this year to do his all by himself.  (well once i clean out the inside and drew on his scary face for him)  Actually we carved two for Colette.  one for our front porch and one for her headstone.

A Halloween treat

Bridgett and I had a great time a few days ago.  We decided to make some treats for the neighbors and this is what we came up with.   (ok so not my idea I found it online and I just had to try it!) Cute huh?  A nice fun festive treat and Bridgett loved it!  Now we just need to get them delivered!

9 months ago today.

Not only is today the 9 month mark since Colette joined our family but it is also the first time that the 24th has fallen on a Sunday since the day she was born.  In some ways I can't believe that it has been nine months,  time seems to have dragged slowly on,  I can't believe that it's Oct and almost November!  I'm not sure how were going to get through the Holidays without out our beautiful baby. I look back on the first month after she passed away and I have to admit that things are slowly getting better,  but I think that the pain never really goes away.  I think you just get used to living with the pain. There are still times were I feel picked on.  Where I feel like everyone gets to go home with their baby but us.  But I know that what happened was exactly what would have happened no matter what family Colette was born into and I'm just grateful that she is born into our.  I can't say that I wish that it never happened because if it...

Something else only I can do.

"Mommy?  Did you see this dead bug on the window sill?" "Yes Aaron I did" "So...... have you felt like cleaning it up yet?" long pause "No Aaron I haven't.   Have you?" long pause "Nope." Yes that about sums it up.  The dead bug is still there.

Curious cupcakes!

I had a friend call me the other day and ask me for a favor.  She said they had found out a few weeks ago what the sex of their baby was going to be, but had kept the results in an envelope and so far no one had peeked (can you imagine that???)  But this sat was their family Halloween party and she had an idea on a fun way to let everyone know what it was including themselves!  She wanted to know if since I was having so much fun with cupcakes lately if i would make some for their family part,  only die the batter the color of the baby   you know blue or pink,   and then decorate them for Halloween.    Of course I was excited to be a part of the fun!   So I started to brainstorm.  I wanted to be able to make the cupcakes in a way that you could not tell what they were having just by looking at them.  So I decided to only die half the batter the bottom half of course and by using foil liners I knew you could not see through them...

Carlsbad California

Image
Dusty and I just spent that last week in Sunny Carlsbad California.  We flew there a week ago and just flew back today.  It was a wonderful vacation!  We stayed at the Smith Resort.  Beautiful place!  You have to do your own cooking but we all know that I don't mind!  Let's see if I can recap what we did this last week.  Thursday   Day 1 We were off bright and early to the airport made it through security at the airport just fine and boarded our plane.  My Aunt was there to pick us up from the Airport in San Diego where she took us to lunch at a beautiful restaurant  where we literally ate out on the water.  If felt really weird to go from a week of rain straight to sun shine and ocean!   That night Auntie and I walked along the beach and watched the sun go down,  which I never realized happens REALLY fast.  Once that ball of fire hits the water on the horizon,  it takes less than 3 mins for it to slide...
