New Years Eve

Image
Happy New Years Eve! Well we have pretty much spent the last week trying to recover from the eventful Christmas we had, The kids have loved having their Daddy home all week and So have I. He has played with them and all their new toys and they are all just having a blast. Well since we had the Christmas eve party at our house Dusty and I thought that have a quiet New Year's Eve at home sounded wonderful! Apparently however someone else in our house had other plans! Aaron got up this morning and announced that today was New years eve, and this is the day with no bed time! (what???? How on earth did he figure that one out???) And tonight we were going to have a party and what were we going to do at our party and who was coming? Dusty and I just looked at each other and we both realized that we were in BIG trouble! So that day we decided to have a make your own pizza night and invite my parents. It was all rather last min but it worked! Dusty and I got to go out on a date ...

My big sewing projects

One of the big sewing projects that I have been working on that I just got done right before Christmas was these Table runners. I did 4 sets of 4, for the first 4 holidays of the year. The run the full length of the table and while they were not hard to make they did at times get a little boring... but I love how they look and one day I'll actually make some for me. Oh and remember those Quilllows I made and posted about a few months back? I finally got those done, I ended up making 19 of them. Yes 19 What was I thinking? I have NO idea but in my defence I was NOT pregnant when I started them and was 9 months pregnant when I finished. My how time flies! The rest of my big projects are in the posts to follow. It was fun to do a home made Christmas this year, and I for sure learned how to be much better at sewing. but I think next year we might just buy gifts for everyone. Of course I say that now but that does mean it will stay that way!

My big project for Dusty for Christmas

This is what I did for Dusty, There is a story behind it of course. (is there not always?) About 3 months after Aaron was born Dusty and I went on a date and we stopped at the fabric store and He picked out all the different fabrics that he would like to have in a quilt. I had decided that I wanted to learn how to quilt. So we bought the fabric and now.... 5 years later, I decided to actually get it done for his Christmas present. I worked on it for hours while the kids were in bed and when dusty was working late. I was hoping to keep it a surprise and I think I actually managed to. He knew that I was making quilts for the kids and I even asked him if it bother him if I used his fabric to make one for Aaron (how mean am I?) I was so happy when it finally came together. And a special Thanks goes out to Grandma Smith and Grandma Pendleton who brought quilt frame and spent a Sat helping me get all the quilts tied, Without their help I think I would still be trying to get them ...

My big projects for Aaron for Christmas

For Aaron I did a Blanket using the left over scraps from his Daddy's blanket, I thought he might get a kick out of it being just like daddy's. Little did I know that after he opened it, after saying "wow it's just like daddy's!" the first thing he did was flip it over to the back and say "HEY! where's my stripe???? I want a strip like daddy's!" To this day, almost every day he asks me why his does not have a strip on it. I guess I should have thought that out a little better! His I made to be twin size so that he could use it on his bed for a comforter. He was so excited when he came in to his room to find me putting it on his bed like a bed spread. "wow" he said..."I didn't know you could do that!" And there it stays, He loves it! He tells me all the time that I'm an awesome baker and sewer. He's really good for my ego :) I hope I can always seem so wonderful in his eyes. I also made him a pen roll to match h...
