Family Snow Fun!

Image
Sometimes you just have to take a few mins and....  Have some family fun!  We woke up this morning to snow!  So I bundled up the kids so they could play while Dusty and I  shoveled off the driveway. I'm not sure why but Bridgett LOVES to eat snow... at least today it's as clean as it gets.  Dusty and I finished sooner than we thought we would.  So we decided to play with the kids in the snow.   We build a snow man!  Isn't he cute?  It was a warmer day so he didn't last long and Bridgett was very sad when he melted but he was fun while he lasted! We love you Mr Snowman!

Dusty turns 30!

Happy Birthday Dusty! Today is Dusty's Birthday.  I made him Toffee, since he loves it and didn't really get to eat much at Christmas.   I guess I gave it all away before he got to much of it :) And I made him his traditional Brownies.  This morning I asked him if he wanted to invite his parents and Grandma's over for dinner.  I knew we were having Hawaiian Hay stacks and there would be plenty to go around.  So everyone came over for dinner and had a good time.  The kids enjoying being able to stay up late even though we have early church tomorrow.  The kids and I bought him 2 new leather bound books to add to his collection.  I think he really liked them.  It was a simple day but he seemed to enjoy himself.   I guess that's all that really matters.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Mom's Birthday Yesterday was Mom's Birthday but she had the blue and gold banquet to do the night of her birthday so today we had her over for a Birthday dinner.   We had homemade potato soup in really yummy soup bowls I bought from the bakery in town.  They have sourdough bowls and they are yummy!  While i was at the bakery I picked up a darling sugar cooked shaped and frosted like a flower.  It was darling.  I figured that since mom didn't want a cake we could put a candle in her cookie and sing her happy birthday.   Of course half way through the day Bridgett found the cooked and squished it in the bag :(  I was really upset but mom said it was still cute. Grandma Wendel came to dinner tonight.  It was a good dinner and everyone had fun.  We gave mom a basket of stationary supplies.  I think she like it.  She needed address labels and we got her lots of other matching items to go with it.  All in all it was a go...

My new Apron

Image
I    Bridgett  have has a new apron! A couple of weeks ago my good friend Marcee brought over a gift she had made me,  it was her first sewing project and I think she did amazing!  She picked out and elvis pattern and a daisy pattern,  my two favorite things.   This morning Aaron was leaving with Grandma Teetah to go build something down at Home Depot, and he had his little orange apron on all ready to go when Bridgett realized that she didn't have an apron.  So I made the mistake of putting my new apron on Bridgett so she did not feel left out.  Now several hours later she still has not let me take it off.... So now you know how it came to be that   I    Bridgett  have  has a new apron! Thank you Marcee I love it!  Even if I don't get to take my own turn wearing it just yet :)

Hair cuts all around!

Last night after Aaron and Bridgett and I got back from visiting Grandma and Grandpa I decided despite the late hour and the need to still feed the kids dinner... that it was haircut time!!! Bridgett really needed a bang trim at least but I also wanted to give her a trim all over.  It's the first time I've actually really cut her hair more than trimming her bangs.  I was pretty nervous but I think it turned out ok,  What do you think? Front....  Back....  I love it,  I know it's short but she just looks like a little pixi and I think it's darling.  She hates the blow dryer (I think it hurts her ears) so it just seems a lot easier to keep it short where it does it's own natural curl thing instead of hanging limp and straight.   This was Aaron hair cut.  Yea I know his pretty much always looks the same.  He always asks me if he can grow it out and I say sure but that means that you'll have to let me comb it every morning. (whic...

A not so fun support group meeting

Tonight was our monthly support group meeting.   I was actually looking forward to it, and hoping that it would be a good meeting.  I have found some really wonderful friends there.  There were a lot of new people there tonight and I've never seen it so full.   Which of course is not a good thing.  It always makes me sad to think that someone else has to loose a baby too. However it was NOT a good meeting tonight.  I'm totally baffled how someone can sit in a room full of people who have ALL lost a child in one way or another and say that no one knows what they are going through and that what they went through is far worse than what everyone else has gone through... Yea for me personally a miscarriage would be far easier than what we did go through for Colette, but I would never say to anyone that had a miscarriage that what I went through was far worse than what they went through.  I would never dream of it!  Yet I had to sit through ...

Colette's First Birthday

Image
Today makes one year since the day that Colette joined our little family.  It was an interesting day.  It was not as hard as I thought it would be.  To be honest the last two weeks before this day were much harder than the actual day was.  Which is actually really weird.  But I have to admit that all of today I just felt a sense of peace, It's like Heavenly Father was just sending another conformation that while this is hard,  this is how and what is supposed to be.  And that was such a comfort on the day that should have been her first birthday.    The day started as usual,  Aaron and Bridgett got up early and came into our room.  Aaron announced that it was Colette's Birthday.  It was cute to hear him say that.  Once we got up and got moving we were about to leave the house when Grandma Smith called,  She wanted to know if we were going to be home for a while,  I told her that we were just getting ready to ...
