My Fairy Tale.
A few weeks ago I started to feel like I wanted/needed to write a story for my Aaron and Bridgett so that they could remember their Sister Colette. While it is a simple story, it took me several days of working on it to write. I knew it needed to be the right mixture of sadness and happiness and finding that balance was a challenge for me. I didn't want there to be to many details but I did want them to be able to look back and see what happened. Now I just need to find someone who can draw! I want to turn it into a hard back book for them. But sadly I lack the ability to make the pages come to life with illustrations.
Once Upon A Time...
By Julia S. Chadwick
Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away, but not as far as you would think, lived a Royal Family.
In this Royal Family there was a King, a Queen, a handsome young Prince and a beautiful little Princess.
All was well with the Royal Family. Then, one day, the King and the Queen began to feel their family was missing something.
After a few months a royal decree went out among the kingdom. The Royal family was growing. The beautiful young princess was going to be a big sister.
And there was much rejoicing and feasting throughout the kingdom.
And the time passed, and the baby grew.
The little Princess loved to snuggle next to the Queen. She loved to poke the Queen's tummy and giggled in delight when the Queen's tummy “poked” her back.
And the time passed, and the baby grew.
The young prince loved to place his hand on the Queen's tummy and wait quietly for a nudge in response. All the while watching the calendar, looking forward to the day when the baby would be ready to join their royal family.
And the time passed, and the baby grew.
The Queen found this to be her easiest pregnancy yet. Before she knew it, the long awaited day came to find out the sex of the royal baby.
The young Prince had his heart set on the baby being a boy. But the Queen was wise, and knew that whether they were blessed with a boy or a girl, the handsome young Prince would love the baby just as much.
And the Little princess? She was too young to know what she hoped it would be.
To the Queen's secret delight the royal doctors announced that the baby was another princess. And so the dreaming and planning began, and the royal family set to work to make room in their castle for their new arrival.
And the time passed, and the baby grew.
Christmas came quickly to the far away kingdom bringing with it all of it's magical wonders, beautiful snow, and the singing of praises to another baby born many, many years before, the Heavenly Prince from on high.
The Royal Family enjoyed spending time together, making goodies and memories, and enjoying the “spirit” of Christmas.
And the time passed and the baby grew.
The New Year brought about a flurry of preparations. The Queen sorted through all the baby clothes in the Castle, washing and getting them all ready to be worn by the baby Princess. Diapers were bought, and the beautiful little Princess's closet and dresser and room were rearranged to make room for not one but two Princesses to live there.
And the time passed and the baby grew.
The Queen met often with the royal doctors and everyone was pleased with how the Baby Princess was growing. And the whole kingdom eagerly awaited the day when she would make her presence known as part of the Royal Family.
The Young Prince was especially eager and he crossed off each passing day on the calendar, happy to be one day closer to being able to meet and hold his new baby sister.
One beautiful Sunday morning the Queen awoke and knew that the Baby Princess was ready to join their Royal Family. So they dropped the handsome young Prince and the beautiful little Princess off with the Royal Grandparents and to the hospital they went.
With prayers in their hearts the King and Queen awaited the joyous arrival of their new baby Princess. And then, she was there. Although her little body was beautiful and perfect on the outside, something was not right on the inside. After taking one breath, the baby Princess had trouble breathing, and her little heart stopped beating.
The wise doctors worked tirelessly to save the baby Princess. They tried everything in their power to help the baby Princess to breathe. They even transported the baby Princess in the Royal Carriage to a bigger hospital where more doctors were waiting to help. For five hours they tried to help the beautiful baby Princess.
The baby Princess was strong and her will to live was great. Oh how she tried! But the Heavenly King, the King of all Kings, had a different plan. Five hours after she joined the Royal family, while being cradled in the King's arms, the baby Princess returned back home to her Heavenly King.
The King and Queen were heartbroken.
The news traveled far and fast. A wave of shock and grief rippled throughout the far away kingdom. Many heads were bowed in prayers of comfort in behalf of the Royal Family. Many hands were used to bring comfort to the Royal Family. Flowers and cards poured in from near and far and the kingdom did truly “mourn with those who mourn and comfort those who did stand in need of comfort” as the Heavenly King had long ago taught them to do.
While the Queen was heartbroken and missed her baby desperately, she was not angry with the Heavenly King. She prayed constantly to find peace, to find the strength to endure the pain. As the weeks passed, the Royal family began to see blessings delivered from the Heavenly King. While it was the hardest thing they had ever done, there were many things the Queen was grateful for.
She was grateful that she and the King were married in a special Castle called a Temple. They knew that by being married in the Temple their family could be together forever. They also knew that even though the Baby Princess had gone home to her Heavenly King, she was still a part of their family. And they knew that one day they would all be together again.
The Queen was so grateful for her handsome young Prince and her beautiful little Princess. There were days when having them to love and take care of was the only thing that kept her going. The beautiful young princess gave her warm hugs and the handsome young prince ran for tissues when the Queen's tears fell.
She was grateful for the love and support of their family, and from everyone in the far away kingdom.
But most importantly she was grateful for the baby Princess, who in such a short time changed all their lives forever.
While the Royal Family was sad she could not have stayed longer with them, they would always think of her with love in their hearts, and they were so grateful that she was their daughter and sister eternally. And they looked forward to the day when they could once again live...

I love your story. You did an excellent job of capturing the feelings! Wish I could help you with the artwork but we both know that is not a talent of mine!
