You'll never guess...

So today has been an interesting day.   I had just gotten back from the gym and went to start the laundry when the phone rang.  Imagine my surprise when I realized that it was Aaron's school!

Yes it's finally happened,  our tender hearted Aaron was in his first fight.  And it was a doodle!   Sadly.......the tree won.  :(

The conversation with Aaron's school went something like this.  words out of ""'s are my own thoughts.

"hello?"
"Is this Julia?"
"yes"   great another telemarketer
"this is Mrs ****** from ****** Elementary,  I have Aaron in the office here."
"yes"  oh no did he throw up?  He didn't seem sick....
"Aaron was outside playing during lunch recess and well... he ran into a tree."
"Uh...."   lunch recess?  GOOD GRIEF what time do these kids eat lunch?  10:00am?  wait he ran into a what??????  Gosh I wish I could say he got that from his dad's side of the family, but I'm pretty sure he didn't.....
"His face is a little scratched and his eye is a little red.  It's just or policy that when a child get a little banged up that we call the mom's and let them come see and make a decision as to what needs to be done."
"Ok thanks!  I'll be right there."

I arrived at the school with Bridgett in tow to find Aaron crying his eyes out in the office.  My goodness the child was very upset!  the conversation went much like this...

"Aaron why are you crying?"
"I ... I don't know!!!!!"
"Are you ok?"
"I don't know"
"what happened?"
" I can't remember!"

Great my child has lost his memory,  either that or his marbles.

"Aaron are you worried that I'm going to be mad at you?"
"YES!"
well now that we have that established!
"Honey I'm not mad at you,  accidents happen!  Did you get into a fight with a tree?"
"yes"
" Who won?"
"THE TREE!"

After trying to get him calmed down for close to half an hour I decided that it was probably just not worth the last few hours of the day,  He was very upset,  very scared and I think he knocked the wind out of himself.  He does have a few boy marks from his fight with the tree,  his one side of his face is quite puffy and he has some scratches on his cheek.

The ironic part?  There really are not many trees in the back of the school where the kids play.  Honestly there is a whole huge field,  not many trees.  Not really sure how he managed to run into a tree,  one day when he is a little less touchie about this I'll have to have him point out which one it was.  I'm so going to have to meet this tree!

  2. Poor Aaron. Hope today is better.

Abigail was looking at the photo of Colette on your blog and asked me if Jesus was holding her. We had a good little talk about why "Heavenly Father couldn't make her stay alive" (as Abigail put it)

  3. Oh poor little Aaron!...that is something I would totally do. I was always the kid that would try to put my head through something, then realize there was glass there after I got my head bumped up! I was really bad at dodgeball too! I hope he is ok, this will be a story that he will laugh about later. Hopefully he can make ammends with the tree!

  4. I think Aaron and I are related some how. I have done things similar even to this day. Its not easy to explain how it happens. One minute the tree wasn't there the next the tree wins. I feel so bad for him. That is never fun and it is embarrassing.

  5. I got a call very similar to that last year, only in our case, it was a POLE, not a tree. Hahaha Wyatt had a goose egg for a week. Poor kid!
