Curious cupcakes!

I had a friend call me the other day and ask me for a favor.  She said they had found out a few weeks ago what the sex of their baby was going to be, but had kept the results in an envelope and so far no one had peeked (can you imagine that???)  But this sat was their family Halloween party and she had an idea on a fun way to let everyone know what it was including themselves!  She wanted to know if since I was having so much fun with cupcakes lately if i would make some for their family part,  only die the batter the color of the baby   you know blue or pink,   and then decorate them for Halloween.    Of course I was excited to be a part of the fun!   So I started to brainstorm.  I wanted to be able to make the cupcakes in a way that you could not tell what they were having just by looking at them.  So I decided to only die half the batter the bottom half of course and by using foil liners I knew you could not see through them to see what it was.  So there would be no knowing without unwrapping!   Fun huh?

So I whipped up my famous white cupcake mix and died half of it this color  (YES they are having a boy!!!!!!)   oh but don't worry!  their Halloween party was last night, so no worries that I'm giving away the surprise because I'm not!    So I fist filled half the liners with a scoop of blue. 

then covered the blue with a scoop of white,  smoothing it out careful to not let the blue show through the top

 then I baked them.  See no blue to be seen!    but when you break them open they look like.... this!

 cute huh?

but of course it's a Halloween party so half of them look like this....

wow those pumpkins are so cute I think we need to see an even closer up shot!

CUTE!!!!!!!   Ok well I think so but hopefully Shanna and Verle think so too since it's their party!!
