Carlsbad California

Dusty and I just spent that last week in Sunny Carlsbad California.  We flew there a week ago and just flew back today.  It was a wonderful vacation!  We stayed at the Smith Resort.  Beautiful place!  You have to do your own cooking but we all know that I don't mind!  Let's see if I can recap what we did this last week.

Thursday  Day 1

We were off bright and early to the airport made it through security at the airport just fine and boarded our plane.  My Aunt was there to pick us up from the Airport in San Diego where she took us to lunch at a beautiful restaurant  where we literally ate out on the water.  If felt really weird to go from a week of rain straight to sun shine and ocean!   That night Auntie and I walked along the beach and watched the sun go down,  which I never realized happens REALLY fast.  Once that ball of fire hits the water on the horizon,  it takes less than 3 mins for it to slide right out of sight.  Beautiful!

Day 2
Friday we got up and went to the Mall,  found a beautiful silver angle ornament and had Colette's name engraved on it.  And we actually found Christmas presents for several people!  Then we came home, Grabbed Auntie and off to Frys we went.  Our intention was to look for a new computer for Auntie so we searched amoung the hundreds on options and finally landed on the perfect one.... only to find out they were out of stock.  Yea....   and I thought that only happened to me in Utah!  I guess it happens to me in California too!    When we got back to the "smith resort"  My cousin and her family had arrived.  It was great to see them!  I had not seen them since a week before Colette was born.  We whipped up a quick dinner,  of hawaiian haystacks and then off to the beach we went to walk among the waves and watch the sun go down again.

 Day 3
On Sat I took some photos for my cousin of her cute little family.  It was quite comical since her youngest daughter didn't want to acknowledge me but I think we managed to get a few good shots anyway!   Dusty and I even got a nap today!  Then Jennifer and I made some rolls for dinner.  It was the pantry secret recipe.  I love that you can make rolls from start to finish in just a little over and hour.  AND I love my aunts ovens that you can bake three trays of rolls ALL at the same time!  Must save for one of those!  It would literally cut an hour or more off my baking time.  So nice!  My other cousin Melinda and her husband Jared came over on Sat too.  I was going to take family photos for them too but Melinda has been really sick lately,  but I'm just glad that she came over and crashed on her mom's couch for a while so we could visit with her even though she probably wished she was in her own comfy bed!   I threw a pork roast into the crock pot early Sat morning and that night after it had worked it's magic we had homemade rolls  juicy tender fall off your fork pork,  mashed potatoes,  cooked carrots and gravy!  And the best part of it was that we got to eat outside by the pool.  How nice does that sound?
DAY 4
On Sunday we had a leasurly morning while we got ready for Church at 11:00  after church we had pulled pork on leftover rolls.  Once that was done we changed our clothes and hopped into the car to do a little sight seeing.  What a better way to spend the Sunday then enjoying the beauty of the earth?  So Auntie drove us down to Lajolla and we walked along the "board walk" dodging smokers and drinkers and wedding parties.  Almost every 100 feet it seemed like there was another wedding going on!  We finally realized that it was 10.10.10 so we decided that was why there were so many weddings.  We did get some fun photos thought.  It was a beautiful evening!
See that seal there?  The one in the middle of the photo?  The one sunning itself with it's nose straight up in the air?  I decided that one was me.  Can't see it very well?  hang on let me zoom in....
See!  There I am!  lol
And I even found some daisy along the ocean.  I thought that was pretty cool :)
And who says that Utah is the only state that has arches???  Ok so California's are a bit....smaller. but they have them!

See?  little tiny arches.
I have to admit that I really do miss palm trees,  they are kind of fun and I wish they grew in Utah but I guess we can't have everything right?
Yes I know more sunset photos but I can't help it!  It's the best time to be at the beach!
Sadly by the time Sunday came to a close and we drove back home I somehow managed to give myself a huge migraine so off to bed I went at a very early hour and was very happy to find it was gone the next morning.
DAY 5
On Monday Dusty and I went to the outlet malls.  We bought some really good sunglasses for a great price and found a few things to take home for the kids.  Later that day we went to best buy and finally picked up Auntie's computer.  Dusty spent some time by the pool....
 DAY 6
Tuesday we drove to DISNEYLAND!  We spent the day there and had a great time riding rides and just having fun.  The funny part was that while I remember riding these same rides over and over and over again as a teenager and LOVING it,  once was about all I could handle this time around.  I swear something changes with your body after you get older!   So werid.  The one that I thought for sure was going to do me in (and it almost did)  was space mountain.   WOW
DAY 7
Wed we spent the day just relaxing and hanging out,  finished up our vacation by just chilling.  My aunt also helped me to edit my story,  Thank You auntie!  Now you just have to come to Utah soon so you can help me finish!  Mom called wed morning with a Bridgett who needed to talk to her mommy,  she was clearly upset that we had not yet come home to play with her.  I assured her that we would be there tomorrow to play with her.  Poor thing missed her mommy and daddy!  And we missed her and Aaron too!
All and all it was a great vacation!
