First Friend Party
Today Aaron had his first friend party! Oh my goodness he was so excited! I sure hope that it lived up to his expectations. As for me? I've been working on this party for weeks!!! Of course it had to be Star Wars! What other option could there be? So I did a little graphic design and came up with an invite for his friends.
of course the addresses have been blacked out to protect the innocent :) Aaron was so excited about his invitations. He said the were "really cool!"
and of course we had to make each child a light saber, which we made out of pool noodles pvc pipe and tape. They look pretty good right? Each child got to take one home with them from the party. The children seemed to have a great time running around the yard playing light sabers with each other.
We played Lego Star Wars Bingo. I found some digital files on the internet for it but they wanted 16 dollars so I decided to make my own.
so we played star wars bingo for a while. Of course after 2 games of it one child asked me if we were going to play this game the WHOLE time. LoL got to love 7 year olds! We played until everyone had won at least once. We had chocolate candy that the winners got to choose from. After that we had pizza for lunch followed by the cupcakes and ice cream.
The kids loved the lunch plates and the dessert plates. and the decorations.
who knew you could fit so many kids in and under the toddler slide?
It was a little chilly so when it was time to open presents we went inside for that part, and then it was back out to "attack the death star!" and what did we use for the death star?
why a soccer ball pinyata that I spray painted grey. Inside was a bag for each child with their names on it, each with the exact same amount of goodies in it. I still remember being little and HATING pinyatta's I never got any candy because I was not aggressive enough so I thought this would be more fun. The kids loved finding the bag with their name on it. After they 'Killed" the death star we gave the children their Party bags and let them run around for the last 10 mins before their parents came to pick them up.
I was so excited when I went to the dollar store and they actually had star wars kites! So of course I had to get them for their party bags!
I ordered these cream bags from Oriental Trading and printed off some iron on transfers and ironed one onto each bag for each child. They were so excited to have a star wars bag with their names on it!
inside was a curly straw, a squirt gun, a pkg. of play-dough, pop rocks, 2 glow in the dark bouncy balls, a yoda and a darth vader sugar cookie, a pencil and a necklace light stick. The kids seemed to think is was all pretty cool. Right before the end of the party I managed to wrangle up the troops and get this picture.
Don't they all look great??? Happy Birthday Aaron, I hope that your first friend party was a huge smash!!! Enjoy it! cuz we are SO not doing this every year :)
