A walk of remembrance.
Every year (usually the Saturday before Mother's Day) our support group holds a walk of remembrance. Dusty and I didn't got last year because he took me down to Zion's for our 8 year anniversary and we just pretended like Mother's day didn't exist. But this year we just decided to face it head on. So to the walk of remembrance we went. They hold it the day before Mother's day to help ease the pain on Mother's day, or perhaps so we can get all the tears out the day before and be a little more happy on Mothers day. For some people the child that they have lost is their only child so far and they feel them selves in the awkward position of still feeling like a mother but having no child to take care of. I can't even begin to imagine how hard that is!
The walk is held at Thanksgiving point. They have a slide show with touching music, We sat down for a while to watch the slide show and look for Colette's name and date. Thank goodness it was in alphabetical order, C's come pretty close to the beginning. Bridgett bless her heart was not really interested in looking at photos of all the baby's so after we saw Colette we quietly went out the door to the outside. After the video they read out all the babies names and have a moment of silence and then we all go and wonder around the gardens of Thanksgiving point for as long as you want. I think the kids had a good time being outside. It was one of the first nice days we have had in a while. They even posed for a few photos for me.
Don't you love my two little hams? All I said was ok go over there so I can take your photo. The poses was all their own! Everyone around us was just laughing at how "photogenic" they seem to be and how they must LOVE to have their pictures taken. Ummmmm no not usually! But hey i'll take it!
A friend also took a photo of us as a family, It's good to be able to see all of us together, a little hard to do when you are usually the one taking all the photos!
I'm not sure why but Bridgett kept trying to climb up into my lap. Guess she just wanted to be snuggled today!
And here are a few more of Aaron and Bridgett. Can't you see how much they love each other? I love how when you go to take a photo of them the get just as close to each other as they can!
and here are some really pretty photos that Dusty took.
After wondering around the gardens for a couple of hours we went to an early lunch at Denny's, All in all it was a nice day and a wonderful way to remember our Sweet Colette.

What a beautiful day. I love all the tulips!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day, the pictures of the kids are so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving point is so beautiful. I am glad you had a good day. Our "walk to remember them" is in Ocotber out here in AZ. It is so touching to see all the families and be around people that understand. Programs like these are such wonderful heartfelt productions to help families heal. I love the tulips, and your cute little cooperatives.
